Ideal for walking an autumn November day.
We chose the route 6 which ends at one of the most beautiful beaches of Andros, Ahla.
We started from the Monastery of St. Nicholas and walked 4,5 km until Ahla Beach. It took us 4,5 hours of slow walking round-trip.
The marking and cleaning of the path has been started and completed by Andros routes. There are signs everywhere and there is no way to get lost.
Sheep are bred in the area which you may encounter very closely. Their owners, trying to prevent them from escaping have placed improvised fences which you can open and pass. Do not forget to reclose them behind.
The river Ahla that ends up at the beach is majestic. You can see bird nests on the trees. Nothing to be heard apart from the sound of water and birds.
The beach is calm, smoothed, nothing to remind of the bustling days of August.
We were the only people there!
